VISIT OF THE NIGERIAN SOCIETY OF ENGINEERS TO NAVAL DOCKYARD LIMITED
In recognition of the significant contributions of the Naval Dockyard Limited to the development of Engineering in Nigeria and beyond, the Executive Committee of the Nigerian Society of Engineers visited the Yard on 17 September 2024. The 8-person team led by the President, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala, represented by the Vice President of the Association, Engr. Felicia Agubata. The Delegates outlined various programmes that have been proposed for the Year 2025, including Workshops, Seminars, Conferences amongst others. The Association’s President noted that the Society would be largely focusing on 5 core pillars, namely, membership development, improving intergovernmental/industry/academic collaborations, re-enforcing international relations mechanisms, re-imaging the NSE for enhanced publicity and governance structure and improving community impact. It was also noted that the Theme for 2025 Conference is Engineering Innovation for a Sustainable Blue Economy of Nigeria. The Executive Committee obtained the assurance that NDL would collaborate, participate and support the NSE initiatives and programmes geared towards enhancing Engineering Practice in Nigeria. The visit by the Delegates from Africa’s largest Engineering body with over 64,000 members is testament of the significant contributions of NDL over the years to the development of Engineering and maritime allied fields in the country, continent and globe.
